Sakura
So we all went out for Paulas birthday last night in Reading. We heard that Sakura was opening up that weekend with Hed Kandi playing on Sunday so we ear marked that one. As ever this popular event was a sell out so we had to queue outside for the few tickets they had held back for the door.
The club is amazing, so slick, well designed. We walked in the door and immediately found a table for our group. Then the bonus, table service! WOW! We ordered our cocktails and then waited about 30minutes for them to be delivered (but let's face it, this was the first weekend and there were obviously no professional cocktail makers working behind the bar..... give them time and I'm sure they'll get up to speed).
We also had a few pic's taken for the website (well we did look fabulous after all).
The downstairs is mainly covered with seating, and really cool lighting. The toilets are fairly small compared to the size of the venue, and the girls reported that although there were ample cubicles there was just one sink and hand-dryer which was really not enough.
On the middle floor is the dancefloor, of the night-fever style with illumated panels which change colour. However it is not that large and was fairly packed. I'm sure, no matter how large the dance floor was it would be packed for Hed Kandi anyway.
Upstairs is another bar, but for the night that was the VIP area.
On the roof they have a smokers terrace, complete with tables, seating and funky lights. It was so packed even the non smokers amongst us were left with smoke smells.
All in all the club is a beautiful addition to the Reading scene. I was a little disappointed about the size of the dancefloor, but you can't have everything I suppose :)
